Riya is a mental health practitioner based in Mohali, India. She specialises in Arts-Based Therapy. She likes to work with adults around themes of self-expression and self-exploration, identity, healing and growth.
Riya is passionate about all things art, wellness and spirituality — hence, she is building SCI. She believes in the virtues of service, justice and care.
According to Riya, the key to a happier, healthier life lies in bringing change to our everyday lives — one tiny step at a time. Riya graduated from Jesus and Mary college, University of Delhi with a B.A.(Hons) in Sociology (2022), before she went on to the Jindal Institute of Behavioural Sciences, where she completed a M.Sc. in Applied Community Psychology (2024).
Riya is UGC-NET qualified in Psychology (2025) and has trained in Art Based Therapy at the Indian Institute of Psychology and Research, Evidence-Based Mental Health Support through the Atmiyata Program at the Centre for Mental Health Law & Policy, Indian Law Society. She has also completed an advanced training program in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Practical Clinical Skills under private supervision (2026).
Her previous experience spans across mental health and arts-based interventions, research, education, and community work. She has designed and facilitated art-based mental health interventions and worked with children and young adults across diverse populations in Northern India.
